Nicholas James Murphy (born 23 June 1988), professionally known as Chet Faker, is an Australian singer-songwriter. He first gained widespread attention in 2012 with the release of his debut EP, Thinking in Textures, which led to a signing with Downtown Records in the United States.

That same year, he was named Breakthrough Artist of the Year at the Australian Independent Records Awards, where Thinking in Textures also won Best Independent Single/EP. In early 2013, his track “Work” received the award for Best Independent Release at the Rolling Stone Australia Awards, further cementing his rising presence in the music scene.
